What is Cupping?
Cupping is a technique that helps to increase circulation to a specific region in an effort to promote healing. It is effective method to stretch tight fascia (connective tissue that surrounds the muscle) and the muscles themselves. Cupping helps the soft tissue develop new blood flow that increases the anti-inflammatory chemicals to that region. Cupping is considered a conservative approach that can enhance the body’s own healing capabilities.
When appropriately performed cupping can:
-
Increasing circulation
-
Increase oxygenation and tissue delivery
-
Remove old stagnant blood
-
Create micro trauma and beneficial inflammation
-
Promote new blood vessel formation
-
Stretch fascia and connective tissue.
